Yay for Soup!

2009 November 29

Tonight is probably going to be a quickie post. The day totally got away from me.

I love getting to spend time with my family, but I was so happy to walk into the door of my house this afternoon. I am really looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tonight.

We spent the morning doing finishing touches on the Christmas decorations at my Pawpaw’s. We found the stockings and got them hung up.

The breakfast. More cheese toast.

This toast is so filling. It held me over all morning.

We spent the rest of morning clearing out one of my Pawpaw’s storage sheds. We had one truck load of throw away items and another truck load of give away items. My Memaw loved Christmas decorations and there were enough decorations for 4 houses in that shed!

By 12:30 we were starving. Lunch was leftovers. I made a turkey and mashed potato roll with another roll, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole on the side.

I was so hungry that I ate it all! And then some apple pie for dessert.

Mmmmm.

I got home around 2 and I had a full car to unload. Dog, dog kennel, a weeks worth of clothes, foodstuff, goodies from Black Friday, Little Green Machine, and more! Then I had to put it all away! The clothes are actually still on my bed needing to be put away before I can go to sleep.

Brian and I got started on our own Christmas decorations. We got the stocking hung and the tree up and decorated for the most part. We will do the finishing touches tomorrow. Then I will take a picture.

I love Christmas but I hate decorating, especially the part when you have to take it down, so I keep it pretty simple.

We also made a quick trip to Harris Teeter to buy some food for the week and to hit up the RedBox. We rented Up!.

We considered cooking dinner but decided on Outback instead. Brian was craving their Blue Cheese Pecan Chopped Salad and steak sounded really good.

We each got a Blue Cheese Pecan Chopped Salad (mine without the pecans) and a 14oz New York Strip and baked potato to split.

I had my plate looking really good until I tripped over Piper and almost tossed my dinner on the floor. I was able to salvage the food, but not their picture perfect plating.

I ate my entire salad, all of my steak, 1/2 my potato, and none of my bread. I love their bread but my tummy just didn’t have room.

We watched our movie while we ate dinner. It was so cute, but started of really sad.

After a little computer time catching up on my blog reading and updating my own blog it was tub time. I adore a nice relaxing soak in the tub with a magazine (tonight was CookingLight) to end my night. Unfortunately I got a few ideas stewing while I was in the tub and decided to cook ASAP.

I wanted to use turkey leftovers in soups to eat for lunch throughout the week. I decided in a Turkey Noodle Soup inspired by Meg, a turkey tortilla soup inspired by Brandi, and a turkey salad.

I am going to be eating good on leftovers this week. Yum.

Time to wrap things up around my house. See you in the morning!
