Yoga Frustration

2010 January 7

Brrrrr….It is cold! I am ready for this frigid weather to go away. It is so hard to get out of bed when it is this cold. I am proud to say that I did manage to get up for a workout.

I decided to do the yoga workout that I wanted to do this morning. I did a 20 minute David Farmer workout from YogaDownload.com using my nice big monitor that I got for Christmas. I was hoping to have the Wii play it on our TV, but no such luck.

Yoga is really hard for me because I can’t bend my left knee much more than 90* because of my knee replacement (and the fact that I don’t stretch like I should). So this make doing the child’s pose correctly impossible along with quite a few others. Plus today I was really having a hard time relaxing my neck in some of the poses; whenever I would try to relax my neck it would hurt really bad. I’m not sure what’s up with that.

I would really like to find a yoga studio nearby where I can take some classes to see if someone can help me do yoga with the understanding that my knee is a physical limitation that can not improve. Does anyone have any yoga pointers or suggestions for me?

Onto breakfast…

Since I was so cold this morning I decided a hot breakfast was in order. So I made a bowl of oats to eat on the road.

1/3 c oats, 1/3 water, 1/3 c milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, brown sugar, 1/3 mashed banana topped with 1/2 pear and PB.

For some reason all of that oatmeal did not fill me up so I ate a couple clementines once I got to my desk.

My morning snack was some Dubliner cheese and crackers.

This cheese is strong. I think I had way more than I needed, but I ate it anyways. With this stuff a little goes a long way.

While I was eating my snack I got a cryptic email from my brother saying “We know…”. I am guessing this means that they found out the gender of the baby! But the stinker isn’t letting me on the secret. Boo on you Ben!
