Me
I am Jessie. I live in Huntersville, NC with my husband Brian and dog Piper.
I am an Army Brat and Preacher’s kid, since my dad is an Army Chaplain. I have one younger brother, Ben, who is also in the Army, and he is married to Sophie. You can read a little bit more here.
Brian and I got married in August of 2008. We adopted Piper in June of 2008 before we got married, she was just under a year old then. You can check both of them out on their own pages.
I am a survivor of childhood cancer and was treated by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I was 13 when I was diagnosed. I talk about that here. I was a softball player, a catcher to be exact, until I had to have knee surgery for the cancer.
I graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2005 with a Bachelors Degree in Health Science. I also have a certificate in Massage Therapy, but find it too physically intensive. And I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician even though I haven’t worked in a pharmacy since 2004. I loved working in a pharmacy and keep it as a backup plan, the only problem was that I seemed to stay sick when I worked in a retail pharmacy. I think I would rather work in a hospital.
I do have a day job as a Sales Administrator for a company in the Sleep Diagnostic industry. I feel like my life revolves around working, often to my dismay. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind working, I just don’t like being stuck at a desk all day everyday, see here.
I started this blog with the intention of it being a photo journal of my life. I went nearly 2 years without taking any pictures on my digital camera. I missed taking pictures of our honeymoon and the trip we took to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. I did however take a few sad photos on my cell phone when I went to Seattle for work. At least I did that much.
After additional contemplation I decided I wanted my blog to be more about pursuing activities that I am passionate about. Finding things you are passionate about can be so hard when you feel like your world is consumed by working. After participating in the blog community and reading several other blogs I found that I am always drawn to the food/exercise/healthy living blogs. I am fascinated with food and nutrition. I hate exercise because of some physical limitations I have, which I discussed here, because of having had cancer when I was 13, which I discussed here, and I just get plain bored. I love to cook and bake and experiment with new ingredients. And I am trying to be healthy or healthier as I do it all, sometimes I hit the bull’s-eye and other times I miss the mark.

They are so random! I would go back to school if I could stand the thought of taking college level chemistry. I am glad you got back from Colorado safe and sound. Ashley and your 24,24,24 looked amazing.
